With the Notification feature configured on the Tapo app, you can decide whether to receive notifications on your phone. Here is the detailed instruction to configure the Notification feature on the Tapo app.

Part 1. Notification Settings for all smart devices

On the Tapo app>>Me>>Notifications page, you are able to change the Notification Settings.

1) You can tap System Notifications to toggle On/Off the Device Sharing, Firmware Update, and New Device Found options to decide whether to receive these notifications on your phone.

2) You can toggle On/Off the Promotions to decide whether to receive exclusive offers, VIP giveaways, and new product notifications.

3) If you enable the Device and go to the Management page, you can turn On/Off the switch beside the smart device to decide whether to receive notifications about it.

4) Tap the Do Not Disturb feature and when it is enabled, you won't receive notifications during the scheduled time on your phone. Tap Exceptions>>Add Devices to add devices if you want to receive notifications from them during Do Not Disturb.

Note: Notifications like water leaks or doorbell thefts still work during the scheduled time.

Part 2. Notification Settings for Tapo & Kasa Cameras

If you want to receive push notifications on your phone when the Tapo & Kasa Cameras detect events, please refer to the following steps to set up the Notification feature on the Tapo app.

Here we take Tapo C200 as an example.

Step 1. On the Tapo app>>Me>>Notifications page, go to Device Notifications>>Management to ensure the switch is enabled for your camera.

Turn off the Do Not Disturb feature or add your camera to the Exceptions page.

Step 2. On the Home page of the Tapo app, tap your camera model card or tap the Cameras tab>click on Manage on your camera model to go to the Live View page.

Step 3. On the Live View page, tap the icon on the top right corner to enter the Device Settings page.

Step 4. Click on Notifications on the Device Settings page.

Step 5. Enable Activity Notifications and Rich Notifications as per your desire.

Tap Activity Type to select the detection types for which you want to receive push notifications.

Note: Currently, some Camera models do not have the Activity Type feature, and you will receive all types of notifications when the camera detects events.

Set the time to receive the push notifications.

If you select Custom Time, you can customize the time period to receive the push notifications as per your desire.

If the location cannot be located or is not accurate, you can enable the Precise Location function. Take the Tapo App as an example, and here’s how.

For iOS (iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 or later)

Enable Precise Location and you can apply your exact location to the Geofencing feature.

1. Go to “Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services”.

2. Scroll through the list to select Tapo. Then enable the Precise Location function.

If Location Services is grayed out and cannot be turned on, please check if you have disallowed changes of location services.

1. Go to “Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Location Services”. Please select Allow Changes. Then tap back to save your settings.

2. Tap Location Services again. Select Tapo, and allow Always location permission, then turn Precise Location on to get accurate location.

For Android (Android 14 or later):

Enable Get location info and you can apply your exact location to the Geofencing feature.

1. Go to “Settings > Apps > Permissions”.

2. Tap Apps to scroll through the list or just search the app name to select Tapo.

3.1 Select Tapo and go to “Privacy > Get location info”. Then choose to allow Tapo to get your exact location.

Feature Description

A group is a collection of devices that you can tap a single action to control all devices belonging to that group. It is accessible on the home screen just like any other device.

You can group together smart plugs, smart switches, and smart bulbs. If you grouped together a bunch of smart bulbs, you will see the color picker and all of the other bulb-related features you would expect if controlling a single smart bulb. This will help reduce the number of unique screens needed to support the feature.

If you have a group of six smart bulbs and drag your finger around the color picker, all of the 'color' bulbs change color simultaneously and smoothly. Other bulbs that are non-color bulbs will remain unchanged.

Groups will exist in a new "GROUPS" category in the device list and they will appear like a basic device with a name, icon, and on/off switch.
