Note: If your Apple device is iOS 14 or above, please have the "Local Network" enabled first by following the steps in this FAQ.
Before we begin:
1. Download and install the Kasa Smart from the App Store or Google Play using your smartphone.
2. Connect your smartphone/pad to your home Wi-Fi network.
3. Plug your Smart device into the power source.
Note: The KS240 is used as an example in this case:
1. Open the Kasa App and log in using your TP-Link ID/account.
a. If you don’t have an account, please sign up with one. (Refer to How to Create a TP-Link Cloud Account on Kasa)
b. Log in to the Kasa App with your cloud account.
2. Add your smart device to the Kasa App. Tap the ‘+’ icon and select “Add Device,” then tap “Smart Switches” and choose an icon according to your model number.
Note: For Matter/Homekit-enabled devices, please select the model name with the BLE suffix.
3. Follow the instructions on the Kasa App to install and power on the switch, then wait until the LED blinks White and Red (Other devices will blink Orange and Geen/Blue).
Enable Bluetooth on your phone, then tap the ALREADY WHITE AND RED button. The phone will look for the smart device through Bluetooth.
Note:
1) Keep your phone or tablet close to your Kasa switch throughout the setup.
2) If the LED does not blink orange and green (white and red), tap “LED not blinking orange and green (white and red)?” for help or reset the device as per its user guide.
4. After the device is discovered, please connect it to your home Wi-Fi.
5. After your Kasa device is connected to the home Wi-Fi, you can give it a name, set its location, and customize its icon so you can easily identify it.
6. After setting it up, you can check for the latest firmware for optimum performance.
