Recent updates may have expanded access to feature(s) discussed in this FAQ. Visit your product's support page, select the correct hardware version for your device and check either the Datasheet or the firmware section for the latest improvements added to your product.
Privacy Mode is a smart feature on Tapo&Kasa cameras. For example, if you have a camera in your living room and do not want to be monitored or recorded by the camera, then you can enable Privacy Mode on the camera. It will prevent the camera from streaming and recording video and audio.
How to enable and disable the Privacy Mode?
Method 1: Enable or disable the Privacy Mode on the camera’s Live View page.
Go to the Live View page of the camera, and tap the Privacy Mode icon to enable or disable it. And you can also tap ‘Exit Privacy Mode’ to disable the Privacy Mode.
Method 2: Enable or disable the Privacy Mode on the camera’s Device Settings page.
Go to the Device Settings page of the camera on the Tapo app to enable or disable the Privacy Mode.
Method 3: Using the Physical Privacy Mode Button
Some Tapo camera models support a physical privacy button, such as the C125 and C225. By pressing the physical privacy button on the camera, the privacy shield will lower to cover the lens, or the lens will automatically rotate to hide for complete privacy.
