This article will show you how to locate the Matter setup code/number for your TP-Link Matter-certified devices. Here are three methods available.
Method 1. Printed/Sticker Code on the Device
Generally, you can find the Matter setup code/number printed on the device’s casing when it comes out from the box. However, please note that the location of the Matter setup code may vary by type of the device:
(1) For the plug, the code is usually located on the side of the device casing.
(2) For the bulb, the Matter setup number is in the middle of the device casing, just below the light sphere and above the bulb base.
(3) For the switch, you can find the Matter setup number on the side of the casing near the button.
Method 2. Backup Code Sticker in the Product Box
A spare Matter code sticker will be included inside the product’s box. This serves as a backup if the code on the device becomes damaged or unreadable.
Method 3. Electronic Code from the Tapo/Kasa App
(1) Please set up your Matter-enabled devices to Tapo/Kasa first; then, refer to the steps below to find the electronic Matter setup code in the Tapo/Kasa App.
(2) Tap your Matter device finished setup in Tapo -> Tap the gear icon on the top right corner to enter the Device Settings page -> Tap Device Info -> Tap Matter Setup Code -> Then you can find the electronic Matter setup code; it's suggested to save it to the album of your phone.
