App-Guided Installation
3-Way Connection
Connect the smart switch to your 3-way circuit together with your existing traditional 3-way switch.
4-Way Connection
Connect the smart switch to your 4-way circuit together with your existing traditional 4-way and 3-way switches.
Single-Pole Connection
For scenarios where 1 light is controlled by 1 switch. You can connect the Load wire to either Traveler terminal on your Tapo smart switch.
Ground: Usually green or copper.
Neutral: Usually white, and not connected to the dumb switch.
Line/Load: Usually black, and connected to the dumb switch.
If you are unsure, consult a qualified electrician.
*Based on Tapo’s laboratory results, actual effect may vary depending on working conditions and environments. Mainly suitable for capacitive load devices, such as lights, TVs, computers, chargers, etc.
†When installing Tapo S515 in a 3-way or 4-way circuit, place it where the 'HOT' or 'LIVE' wire is connected. Do not replace the traditional 3-way or 4-way switch connected to the 'LOAD' wire.
‡Energy Monitoring feature is not supported by most of the Matter-enabled Apps yet, but coming soon. Please use this feature in the Tapo App for now.
