Tapo Cameras and Smart Actions

Tapo Smart Actions unleash the full potential of your smart home. With Shortcuts, you can create personalized scenes with just a simple tap for the perfect ambiance. Additionally, Automation allows your Tapo devices to adapt seamlessly to your lifestyle based on various triggers. Here's how Smart Actions (Shortcuts and Automation) work with Tapo cameras.

Use Recommended Templates

For hassle-free setup, the Recommended tab offers two shortcuts and five automation templates designed for Tapo cameras.

Use the "Arrive Home" and "Leave Home" templates to enable or disable Privacy Mode with a single tap. You can also customize and apply Automation templates to enhance the smart capabilities of your cameras.

Turn On Lights at Sunset

Suitable for floodlight cameras only. Automatically schedule your floodlights to turn on at a specific time each day.

Detection Lights

When your cameras detect events, the lights automatically turn on, helping capture clear, full-color images.

Automate Devices When I Leave/Arrive Home (Geofencing)

Automate your cameras to turn on/off Privacy Mode when you leave/enter your home’s geofence.

Water Leak Alert

Pan & Tilt cameras will automatically rotate toward the source when the water leak sensor detects a leak.

Create New Shortcuts and Automation

If existing templates don’t work for you, you can add new shortcuts or create automation as needed.

When creating new Shortcuts, you need to Add Action and tap to execute it. Available actions depend on the camera model. Some cameras can play sound, while Pan & Tilt models offer controls like Turn On/Off Motion Tracking, Patrol Mode, and Pan & Tilt. Floodlight cameras allow you to turn lights on/off, customize lighting, adjust brightness, and more.

To create an Automation besides Add Action, you also need to Add Trigger. Triggers can be Device Status Change, Time of Day, or Arrive/Leave. For Tapo cameras, the Device Status Change is related to events detected, like Motion, Person, Pet, Vehicle, and more. You can create personalized scenes according to camera features to fulfill automation.
