Why does TP-Link require my email address?

when you create a tp-link id, an email address will be required. your tp-link id uses email addresses to sign you in to your account with tp-link devices or tp-link apps like vigi app, kasa app, tapo app, tether app, deco app etc. and provide the related services.
most of the tp-link devices can still function properly without using the app or tp-link id, but the vigi app, deco series, kasa series and tapo series devices must be set up and managed through the apps.
with tp-link id, you can:
- verifying your account.
- resetting your password.
- remote management of your tp-link devices.
