How to get the log of Tapo app

Note: Make sure you download the latest version of the app from Google Play or the App Store.

Step 1. Launch the Tapo app and log in. Click on Me at the bottom, and then select Support Center.

Step 2. Choose the Tapo device for which you need to collect logs. Here we take the Tapo C210 as an example.

Step 3. Select the relevant FAQ, slide to the bottom of the FAQ, and select Contact Technical Support, then select Email Support.

Step 4. Select the corresponding issue type and fill in the rest of the information. Then check Add App Logs, then tap Submit.

How to Add A Group for Your Tapo Devices

Feature Description

A group is a collection of devices that you can tap a single action to control all devices belonging to that group. It is accessible on the home screen just like any other device.

You can group together smart plugs, smart switches, and smart bulbs. If you grouped together a bunch of smart bulbs, you will see the color picker and all of the other bulb-related features you would expect if controlling a single smart bulb. This will help reduce the number of unique screens needed to support the feature.

If you have a group of six smart bulbs and drag your finger around the color picker, all of the 'color' bulbs change color simultaneously and smoothly. Other bulbs that are non-color bulbs will remain unchanged.

Groups will exist in a new "GROUPS" category in the device list and they will appear like a basic device with a name, icon, and on/off switch.

How Can I Add a Group?

1. From the Home screen, tap on the “+” icon in the top right corner. Then select "Add Group".

2. Name your group and set a location for it. Select the smart devices you want to add to the group and tap SAVE.

How Can I Delete a Group?

Two ways you can delete a group.

Method 1:

From the device list, long-press an individual group until the red delete symbol appears on the right. Tap the red delete symbol.

1. Tap the gear icon on the Status Page to enter the “Group Settings” page.

2. Tap “REMOVE GROUP” to remove your group.

How to Use the Room Feature in the Tapo App

You can create different rooms and add your smart devices into the certain rooms for easy management in the Tapo app.

1. Open the Tapo app and tap the “hamburger” icon. Select “Room Settings” from the menu.

2. Tap “Add Rooms” to create a new room for your devices.

3. Select or enter a name for the room and tap “Save”.

4. Choose the devices you want to add to this room. Tap “Add to This Room” to finish.

5. Return to the home page and you’ll see the new room listed in the menu, along with your devices inside it.

What can I do if I forget my password of the cloud account (Tapo smart plug, smart camera, smart bulb)

Accepted Answer

If you have forgotten the password of the cloud account, you can refer to the following steps to create a new password so that you can log in to the Tapo app to control the Tapo devices.

Method 1. On the APP.

Step 1 On the “Log In” page, click on “Forgot Password”.

Step 2 Input your cloud account, then click on “SEND”.

Step 3 Open the email, click on “Click to Reset Password”, it will lead you to a reset password page on the cloud website.

Step 4. Input the new password for your cloud account and confirm the password, then click on “Save”.

Step 5. Now you have finished password reset steps. Please go back to Tapo app, click on “PASSWORD IS RESET”, then you can log into your Tapo app with your new password.

If you don’t receive the reset email within 60 seconds, please click on “Resend” on the app, and please ensure you have entered the correct email address.

Method 2. On the TP-Link cloud website.

1. Open a browser, type https://community.tp-link.com/en/forgetpw in the address bar, and press Enter. On the pop-up webpage, please type in your registered email address, and click OK. A request email will be sent to your mailbox.

2. Open the requested email, and then tap Click to Reset Password.

3. On the pop-up webpage, please enter and confirm your new password, then click Save. Now you can log in the router with your new password.

What can I do if the Tapo app is not working properly (smart plug, smart camera, smart bulb)?

If there’s something wrong with the Tapo app, please try to do the below troubleshooting based on the problem you have.

Q1: Can’t install the Tapo app successfully

Please download and update the latest version of the app from Google Play or the App Store. If you encounter any installation problems, please kindly check and update the OS version on your mobile device.

Q2: Tapo app has a crash issue

1. Uninstall the Tapo app, then reinstall the latest app on your phone.

2. Install the Tapo app on another phone for a try.

Q3: Fail to login with TP-Link ID

1. Open a browser and search something on the mobile device, make sure it has internet access.

2. Connect the mobile device to another Wi-Fi network for a try.

3. Uninstall and reinstall the latest Tapo app, then open the app and log in.

4. Use a different mobile deivce to download and install the Tapo app, then try to log into the app again.

What're the automation and shortcut of my Tapo device (smart bulb, smart plug, smart camera)?

Shortcut

Shortcut lets you achieve an action with a simple tap. For example, when you are ready for bed, you can turn off your smart devices for safety and dim your lights for better sleep with one simple tap.

There are 3 featured shortcuts in the Tapo app, including Leave Home, Arrive Home and Go to Bed. You can edit based on the featured shortcut or create your own shortcut.

Automation

Automation allows you to set interactions between your smart devices by adding triggers and actions. For example, if the smart camera detects a motion (which is a trigger), then the living room light will come on (which is an action).

There is a featured automation in the Tapo app, which helps automatically turn on the lights in your home at sunset. You can edit based on the featured automation or create your own automation.

Note: Only Tapo smart bulbs support this feature currently. For Tapo smart plugs and smart cameras, the support will be added soon. Please stay tuned for the software updates.

How to unbind cloud account with devices in mobile App

Before we begin:

You could unbind the cloud account by removing your devices on the corresponding app. For NC series cameras, you can use the tpCamera app to remove the device, and for smart home products, you can use the Kasa app to remove the device.

Note: Once the device is removed from the app, the device would be reset to the factory default settings by default, and you need to reconfigure it from the very beginning if you want to control the device on the app again.

Using an HS110 as an example in Kasa App.

Option 1: Press and hold the device on the screen and you will see the “-” option.

Option 2: Tap “Remove Device” at the bottom of the Device Settings page.

Using an NC450 as an example in tpCamera App.

Tap the icon of gear to enter the Camera settings page, then you can tap “Remove Camera” at the bottom to remove the camera from your cloud account.
